Long Range Pistol Rules and Course of Fire

The following are the rules, regulations, and course of fire governingLong Range Pistol Competitions held by the Jersey Pistol Club.

Pistols:
  • Any centrefire pistol or revolver with a barrel length not exceeding ten (10) inches.
  • Chambered for commercially available pistol calibres only, from .300  to .500 calibre.
Sights:
  • Any metal sights which may be adjustable, any colour
Grips:
  • Any wood, plastic or rubber grips which properly fit the pistol
  • Orthopaedic-type grips are not allowed in this competition
Safety:
  • Any safety that is fitted must operate
Trigger:
  • In the opinion of the Range Officer the Trigger must be safe
Positions:
  • Any position may be adopted provided in the opinion of the Range Officer that position is safe.
  • Free standing is not permissible.
  • Both hands may be used to hold or steady the pistol.
  • Barrels may not be rested, only the base of the grip may touch the ground or bench.
Ammunition:
  • Sixty (60) rounds to be supplied by the competitor.
  • Magazines to be loaded with five (5) rounds only for each practise.
Targets:
  • Wessex
  • One per competitor
Shooting Distances:
  • 100 yards
Rules:
  • ILRPA & JPC Rules apply.
Course of Fire:
  • Practice 1
  • Two (2) strings of five (5) shots in five (5) minutes.
  • Practice 2
  • Two (2) strings of five (5) shots in five (2) minutes.
  • Practice 3
  • Two (2) strings of five (5) shots in thirty (30) seconds
  • The above to be shot twice.
  • A series of  five (5) sighting shots in five (5) minutes may be fired prior to the first competition series.
